U10 had a big weekend playing three games at RSC. We started on Saturday with a 2:30 game against Lee’s Summit Fire Explosion. The day had warmed up into the 80′s and their was a steady wind.
Max started off the scoring about 3 minutes into the game and we went into halftime leading 1 to 0. It was a good game with 305 having the majority of chances. Fire tied the game 1 to 1 and it was looking like we were going to lose our momemtum. Late in the game, Nik made a great run from the back and made a good effort at the end to slide in under the goalie to knock the ball into the net for the winner. What an exciting way to end the game.
On Sunday, it was a doubleheader for U10 starting with an 11:10 game with LS Rush. Twice this year we had been up by 4 goals and both games ended in a tie. Both teams are pretty even and it would be a good game. It was back and forth most of the game with good play all over the field. Trenten Leary put us up 1 to 0. Rush tied the game 1 to 1 and then went on to score the winning goal to take the game 1 to 2. It was a heartbreaking loss, but we just couldn’t finish and they played stronger late in the game.
We were back at RSC 9B for a 2:30 rematch with Fire Explosion. The boys had been playing soccer most of the afternoon since the morning game while we waited for game time. Spirits were good and I was pleased they had put the morning loss behind them. We came out strong and pretty much dominated most of the game. It was 0 to 0 at half but we were playing well and having one of our best passing and team shape games this season.
In the second half, Logan put us up 1 to 0 on a great run of passes with Logan running onto a through ball from riley and finishing with a strong shot into the back of the net. Then a few minutes later, Riley put us up 2 to – with a direct kick. 305 went on to win the game 2 to 0. Both teams played hard and it was a good u10 game to watch and be a part of.
Over the course of the 3 U10 games this weekend, we had five different players score five goals. We also had the other 4 players also have good opportunities. Very pleased to see all nine players contributing to our offensive efforts. Great job everybody!!
It was a beautiful autumn morning for soccer. Lots of dew on the field and cooler temperatures. We were finally getting to play on Field 11. It was a good match up with Varder Blue with both teams have good chances and lots of back and forth play.
We had the wind the first half but just couldn’t find the back of the net. Varder Blue scored a good goal to go in at half time leading 0 to 1. Against the wind in the second half, Hunter scored a good goal to tie the game up 1 to 1. For the last 5 minutes of the game we had several opportunities. the boys were doing a good job taking the ball wide and putting in some nice crosses. We just couldn’t get ourselves in position to knock it in.
A much better game than the previous Saturday and it looks like our training sessions are paying off. Everyone had fun and we definitely had our chances.

3:30 Sunday afternoon finally rolled around after a LONG day of soccer on Saturday. The temperatures were in the low 80′s and the sunny skies had turned into cloudy skies. There was litte to no wind and we were playing on the Ray Pec Hill.
The boys had every reason to be tired, but came out firing. We were up 3 to 1 at half time going down hill and then in spite of the long ball down hill kickball game Ray Pec wanted to play we held them off to win 5 to 2. The boys responded much better today than on Saturday and everyone gave a 100%. Hopefully we have turned the corner and put these lapses behind us for the season. Great job boys!
Thanks everyone for making such a terrific tailgate at the Wizards game. What a beautiful evening and a great group of families. Chris and Jim are definitely the grillmasters and the chicken and the brisket were amazing. Also thanks to Chris for the awesome 305 black beanies. WOW . very nice.
The Wizards play probably their last home game of the season on Saturday, 10/23. Let us know if you need tickets. 2011 Season tickets are on sale now. www.kcwizards.com
Our 2:15 game didn’t get started until 2:30 but the boys came out ready to play. We had Rush down 4 to 0 then gave up 2 goals to go into the half leading 4 to 2. Rush scored 3 in the 2nd half including one in the last seconds of the game to tie the game 5 – 5.
