U10 played Lee’s Summit Rush at 11:20 on field 9A. It was only our second game of the season, but it was a beautiful morning and the boys were ready. We started off strong and quickly took control of the game. In the first half Trenten Leary, Landon Naylor and Max Morrison found the back of the net and we went into half leading 3 to 1. We had 11 shots on goal and should have scored 2 or 3 more.
In the second half, we started out strong but just couldn’t get a goal. Rush scored a goal on and then 2 more to take the lead 4 to 3. Trenten Leary scored one more to tie the game 4 to 4 and both teams finished strong with some good chances each way but the game remained a draw.

U11 played BVSC Sporting at 9:30 am on field 12 at RSC for our opening game of the tournament. We started out REALLY slow and very flat. BVSC found the net 4 times with 10 shots while we were only able to find the back of the net once out of our 13 shots. Hunter had the only goal in the first half in the 18th minute.
In the second half, we came out ready to play and dominated possession. Hunter scored a second goal in the 12th. We had plenty of other chances out shooting BVSC in the second half 9 shots to 3. The boys showed good heart and determination turning the game around in the second half, shutting out a very good team and getting ourselves back into the game.

We were scheduled to play at Tiffany against Varder White at 11:30. Futura called the game off due to Field #2 being too wet from sprinklers running on top of all the rain. We were able to get the game rescheduled for later that afternoon at 5:15.
The sky was blue and the temperatures were in the mid 80′s. What a day. Tiffany is just south of KCI and planes are constantly flying over to land. Right before the start of the game (which was 15 minutes late per usual at Tiffany) a Fedex plane flew over and cast a shadow from the setting sun. With the field running east and west, the setting sun would be an issue. We elected to look into the sun the first half so Varder would have it the second half.
It was our first game and at kickoff we looked a bit flat. Varder brought their A game and quickly put us on our heals. We dug in and started gaining more possession and put together a string of good chances, keeping the ball in our end. But we couldn’t find the back of the net. Varder scored first to make it 1 to 0. We continued to work in some good chances and put together a series of corner kicks that would just not fall.
Varder then put together a run of 3 unanswered goals to go up 4 to 0. I don’t know that we have ever given up 4 goals in a half. But the boys did not drop their heads. We had the run of possession and the sun in Ian’s eyes was definitely an advantage for Varder. Hunter found the net in the 27th minute to get us back in the game. We finished the half strong. At half time there was good enthusiasm and the boys were excited to get back out on the pitch to even things up.
In the first half, 305 had 15 shots on goal to Varder’s 10.
The boys came out hard in the second half and were working to get the next goal. in the 10th minute, Hunter got his second goal of the game to bring us within two. Both teams were battling hard and the game was wide open. Two minutes later, Dylan charged hard into the goal to finish off a deflected shot to bring us back within 1, making the score 4 t o 3.
We continued to create chances but we just couldn’t get our shots to fall. Varder was having limited possession and it felt like it was just a matter of time before we would tie things up. With just under 2 minutes to go in the game, Hunter finished his hat trick with a terrific run and finishing shot that saw us tie things up 4 to 4. That is one of the great moments in soccer – a tie can be just as exciting as a win. The ref blew the whistle for full time and both teams knew they had worked hard for an exciting result.
In the second half, 305 had 10 shots to Varder’s 6. For the game, 305 had 25 shots to Varder’s 16. Varder’s goalie had made some terrific saves and both teams played with heart and inspired spirit. Looks like it will be another exciting season.

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon at WMSL. Field 4 unfortunately had a rough summer and was more clumps than grass. It was U10′s first game of the season and the boys were ready to play.
The two teams were well matched with United having more size than our young u10 team. But that didn’t faze the boys as they played with pace and challenged for every ball. Both teams had a good run of chances and Colby had some good saves. In the 15th minute we got our break when Riley with some good heads up play stole the ball and put it into the back of the net.
We continued to pressure and went into half leading 1 to 0. The second half started right where we had left off with several good chances. It was looking like we might hang on to our slim lead when United won a break away and put the ball home to tie things up 1 to 1. United scored another against the run of play to make it 2 to 1.
Riley took a direct kick and sent the goalie back into his goal where he caught the ball inside the goal – but the ref let him kick it out and didn’t count the goal. United scored one more and put the game away 3 to 1. It was a tough loss in which the boys had played hard, out shot United and had the majority of possession.
For our first game of the season it was a terrific start. While we didn’t get the win, we gave United a great game. Well done, boys.
