March 30th, 2010
The weather cleared off on Sunday with wet and muddy conditions and a strong wind. Our first u9 game with several players making their Sedalia Soccer 305 Spin debuts against a strong (and big) United side. We gave up 2 goals early on as we adapted to the pace and physical play of United. Colby Edgar was called on to make several excellent saves to keep us in the game. But once the boys settled in and got their game going, we enjoyed a solid run of end to end play by both sides. Late in the half, Riley pulled us back within a goal on a direct free kick outside the box. At half time, we were in the game and only down 1 to 2.
The second half started pretty much the same way the first half ended with both teams working hard trying to maintain possession. Colby continued in goal it the second half and continued his man of the match performance making several good saves. We were also putting their keeper under pressure and he responded with some excellent saves on their end.
I was confident we were going to get the tying goal, but the back of the net eluded us shot after shot. Finally United bungled in a goal in the mud to go up 3 to 1. Our boys continued to work hard but time ran out on us. Everyone really played with heart and gave it their all. I am sure we learned a lot and I can’t wait until our next match.

As we drove up to WMSL on Saturday morning in the rain, our phones kept buzzing with yet another text message for KC fields canceling games. When we got to WMSL, it was raining pretty good, but the boys were running around ready to play. At 10:45, the game started on time and we lined up with Ian Wallen in the goal, Zachary Morrison at Center Back, Alex Esquivel on the right, Trenton Willis on the left, Tanner Leary in the Middle and Hunter Gilliam up top. Dylan Hayden, Trenten Leary and Riley Moore braved the rain from the sideline raring to go.
The ref blew the whistle, they kicked off, we attacked and dispossessed. pushed the ball wide. Good passing around the field. Possession, Pace, Pressure. Constant. Relentless. Lots of passing and team play. Score at half time – Sedalia U10, 14 to 0. With goals from Hunter (7), Dylan (1), Trenten Leary (1), Riley (2), Ian (1), Trenton Willis (2). The difference was our boys were ready to play and in the first five minutes (3 goals) took the other team out of the game.
The second half the rain let up and then stopped. Qwest Dynamo came out determined to slow us down and we only scored two goals in the first fifteen minutes. Our possession play was still spot on and their goalie made some terrific saves. In the second half Hunter scored 2, Tanner scored 2 and Trenten Leary and Trenton Willis each scored 1.
Final score – Sedalia 20, Qwest 0.
(sorry not more pics – rain and all)

March 23
The March 20, 1:15 U9 game with Parma at RSC has been rescheduled to April 3, at 8:15am.
Yes – you read that right 8:15 am. We have been blessed that KC never schedules our games before 9:30 in the morning , but there wasn’t any other time available. So U9 will play at 8:15am and 10:45 at RSC on April 3rd. We will need to be at the RSC field by 7:45am.
The March 21, 3:00 U9 game with Harambe at WMSL has been rescheduled for April 10, at 10:45 at WMSL field 8. U9 did not originally have a game on April 10, so now both U9 and U10 will be playing on April 10. There is also a KC Wizards game on the 10th.
