    PARTY!! at El Tapatio!

    November 2nd, 2009

Now that was a fitting party to end a great season! Thanks to H.A. Perez and Cesar and all the El Tapatio staff for being such gracious hosts. And thanks to Lori and the parents that helped her make this so much fun. The goody bags – especially the Player Cards – were a smash hit and filling the Coaches van with the inflatable soccer balls was one of the great ‘windups” that I have ever been subjected to. Love it – it  was Brilliant!

The key to the success of these players and these teams is the support and understanding of the parents. Coaching these teams is easy. Having your support is what makes it all such a pleasure.

    Oct 31 – U9 Boys v RayPec

    November 2nd, 2009

It was just going to be one of those days. Players late, equipment missing, lost toss and all but one player on the other team sporting blue hair. I should have sat back and just let the boys play, but I really wanted the boys to grab the 3 points and finish the season strong. We were getting out hustled all over the field. Our boys who normally take it to other teams were losing the ball with every second touch. We went into halftime down 2 to 1 with Trenten scoring our lone goal but we had a few opportunities and both their goals were fairly soft.

My spirit was high in spite of our on field struggles since we would be going downhill and maybe that little bit of advantage would get the boys their needed lift. But Raymore came out hard and we only had one shot on goal the entire second half. RayPec scored late to make it 3 to 1 for a frustrating end to the season.

Overall – the U9 boys had a pretty good season. Playing B1 and true U9 was really a great learning experience for the boys and for me. We should have a great foundation to build on for the spring and adding a few new players will set us up for a fun spring season.

    Oct 31 U10 v RayPec

    November 2nd, 2009

Raymore was probably my least favorite place to play this season. Lousy fields, long walk and windy all the time. But the U10 boys seem to love playing there -even running up hill against the wind.

I had hoped we could go into halftime with a lead and then take advantage going down hill with the wind the 2nd half. And the boys gave us a good lead – Hunter nailed his hat trick and Tanner added one more and we looked good 4 to 1. In the second half we had plenty of opportunities but only found the net one more time with Hunter hitting his 4th. RayPec found the goal twice and we ended up winning easily 5 to 3.

A tremendous season for the U10 team. A very tough division and every game was competitive. We will look to strengthen our numbers for spring, but this team should be looking forward to a great spring season. My personal goal was for each player to grow with their individual skills and to conquer the personal goals I set out for them. I am proud that each of these players worked hard to acheive these goals.
