Raytown Tournament in the Woods Day 1-Game 1
September 13th, 2009Wow – what a day. The weather was perfect – even got a little rain to keep us honest, and the boys and all the parents were ready to have a fun day. We set up 305 camp about 9:00 am and watched the two teams we would play battle out a 4-3 score with Topeka Select edging out Blue Valley Soccer club.
Our first game at 12:30 saw us play BVSC on field 9a. And away we went with both teams working hard and our boys taking it to them with lots of shots, pressure on the ball and great pace and effort all the way around.
Here is how our scorekeeper saw it:
in the 10th minute after we had several chances and also several good saves by Dylan, Hunter scored a header off a beautiful corner kick from Tanner. Just like we had practiced. Then about 5 minutes later, Hunter worked a 1 on 1 into the box and beat the keeper to make it 2 to 0.
In the 24th minute BVSC scored to make it 2 to 1 going into the half.
BVSC came out strong in the second half and scored in the 2nd minute to tie it up. We battled hard and had several opportunities but just wasn’t finding the net. Then Hunter got the ball on our side of the half, looked up – saw the goalie was way out and fired a long range shot over the goalie head to make it 3 to 2 and a hat trick for Hunter.
This fired up the team and then Tanner took one all the way from the back through the entire BVSC team over to the right of the box and fired home the winning goal. BVSC scored another goal in with 4 minutes to go and the last 4 minutes were exciting action at both ends with the Sedalia boys in white holding on for the 4 to 3 win and 9 points to go tied with Topeka Select top of the group.
Our next game wasn’t until 4:35 and we hung at the 305 camp – had lunch hung out, learned a bunch of dances from DJMAster Alex and it was all fun and good cheer.
