The weather for the Wizards game was much better then the weather we had at our game. And for our small group that braved another game on this crazy Winter Spring day, we were definitely rewarded.
The Wizards came out early and had several opportunities in the first 10 minutes. And the crowd was having a great time giving Earthquakes goalie “JOE” Cannon a hard time.
It was great seeing the new signing from Argentina, #10 Santiago Hirsig getting his first start. Hirsig and Lopez (also from Argentinia) were really hooking up with some nice play.
Aaron Hohlbein scored the first goal in the 28th minute amid a flurry of opportunities and then Claudio Lopez put the game away in the 78th minute. In the end, the Wizards had 12 shots on goal to only 1 by the Earthquakes.

Our Game 3 started out wet and cold – a perfect Premier day – but turned into a hard snow with strong winds. Throughout the first half, our kids worked hard and took it to the FFC Celtic team keeping the ball in our end the entire half except for a couple lose long balls.
While every one of our players deserves a big cheer for their heroic efforts in this awful weather, Dylan Hayden stood in the goal with no action for 25 minutes – frozen like an Antartic Penquin with no complaints and at the ready for a breakaway.
The game was called early in the 2nd half – so we are trying to find out if we get to make it up or not. It would sure be disappointing to only get one point for a draw when we we completely dominated the 30 minutes or so that we did play.
Thanks also to all the parents for making the trip on such a wintry spring day and I really appreciate everyone being so supportive of the team and our players. It was a true team effort from everyone.

April 2nd, 2009
Wednesday was an early out for Sedalia Schools, so we had several of the players show up that afternoon to play. Pickup soccer (pickup any sport) almost seems to be a thing of the past, so it was great to see them pick teams, make the rules and just play soccer.
Amanda graciously brought pizza (THANKS!) and the kids chowed on Pizza before the USA v Trinidad & Tobago World Cup Qualifier. the USA needed to turn things around after their lackluster performance in El Salvador. Jose Altidore got his chance to start and showed coach Bradley why he should be their #1 striker. He rewarded the start with his first hat trick for the US national team (3 goals) and the US beat TNT 3 to 0 to stay top of their group.
