    Game 5 – 9 to 0

    April 25th, 2009

Finally a game without rain or snow. We switched the lineup around a bit and the boys responded with 2 goals in the first two minutes. Our forward line of Hayden Martin, Trenten Leary and Trey Beerman took it to ‘em at the whistle.

At halftime it was 4-0 with goals from Trenton Leary, Trenton Willis, Tanner Leary and Riley Moore. In the second half we had goals from Trenton Leary (the same three forwards started the second half like they did the first) Hunter Gilliam, Tanner scored 2 goals in the 2 minutes he played up front and Riley got one at the end.

A fun game with the lads all playing with confidence at any position they were assigned.

We saw a great game on a beautiful day as the Wizards got an early goal on a PK agaist the New York Red Bulls. An enthusiastic Cauldron entertained the ESPN viewers and a sold out crowd got into the game. Thanks, HA for grilling the Taco’s and a fun tailgate.

    KC Cup Day 2

    April 19th, 2009

Cancelled – Rained Out – Fields too wet to play
In the other Games on Saturday -
    Rampage beat Cyclones 7-0
    Jefferson City beat Arsenal 2-1
so Rampage won our division with 18 points and Arsenal got second with 10 points. We tied Jefferson City for third with 9 points. Two wins on Sunday would have seen us with a chance to win our division.

Practice Tuesday – 6:00pm at Clover Dell

Thursday – No Practice – Wizards Game

    KC Cup Day 1

    April 18th, 2009

Wow – what a crazy day. Everyone was ready for a rainy morning but when we got to RSC, it was a pretty nice morning. Our first game against Arsenal started at 9:10am – just as the rain started to fall. And it rained hard. Ian was playing  in the goal and made a couple of spectacular saves to keep us in the game. At 12 minutes into the first half, lightning flashed right over the field and the ref immediately suspended the game.

45 minutes later we were back out ready to continue. But before the ref could even get on the field, lightning again, and another 25 minutes of standing under our “tops” and hiding out in cars in the muddy parking lot. Third time out to the field and now it was past 10:30. We played the remainder of the first half and the score remained 0 to 0.

In the 2nd half, the sun came out and our team energized and we got to our half and had a few chances. Since we were only playing 20 minute halves now, time flew by. Arsenal was awarded a penalty kick and Dylan saved it. That was followed by a penalty outside the box which Arsenal put in. Close to time, Arsenal got in a second goal. So the first game started at 9:10 and ended at almost 11:30.

The first game was followed by a great tailgate (thanks everybody!) and we tried to figure out when our next game would be since all games were behind. Jefferson City lost a tough one right at the end on a PK to the Rampage 2 to 1.

Our second game started just after 1:00 (was skedded at 12:25) vs the Qwest Cyclones. We came out strong and started setting up chances pretty quickly. Hunter unleashed with a  brace in the first half and Dylan Hayden snuck one past the goalie to make it  3 – 0 at half.

We came out in the 2nd half against the win, but the boys quickly took it to the Cyclones again. Hunter added two more to make it 5-0. the Cyclones came back with a goal and then Tanner put the game away with our 6th goal. The Cyclones got one more in the last minute for a final score of 6 to 2. That gave us a total of 6 points on the day.

Each player should have sweat pants and a warmup jacket to wear when arriving to game and before game.

PLEASE bring warm-ups, hoody’s, DRY underclothes, EXTRA SOCKS, stocking caps, gloves, TOWELS, BLANKETS. This is a long time to be exposed outdoors and it will probably rain. So OVER DO IT on extra stuff to keep your player dry, warm and happy. Maybe the sun will shine all day and we won’t need the extra stuff, but while there is a Target near by, it would be better to be over-prepared.

    Game 4 A great win 6-5

    April 11th, 2009

It was a beautiful morning at Raytown Soccer Complex when we met the FFC Harambe team. FFC played short but gave a courageous and enthusiastic effort.

Riley scored 3, Hunter nailed 2 and Ian came through with the winner near the final whistle. The kids all played with heart and determination as each time we went a goal up, FFC Harambe would come back and get the equalizer and then we would keep our heads up and score again to regain the lead.

It was a fun and exciting game and should help us get ready for the KC cup next weekend. After the game, we met at El Tapatio for a lunch time celebration.

Thanks to HA Perez for helping us today. And thanks to all the parents for their support. The coach of Harambe commented after the game not only on how great the game was, but also on the turnout of our parents and how great they treated our players and theirs. A very nice compliment indeed.

And thanks for the great turnout at El Tapatio afterwards. Really enjoyed the time with the boys and the families as we gathered for a celebration lunch. What a day!
